Less Ink, Less Paper, What’s Next?
Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Well we already have a few simple solutions to save paper (don’t print! if you must print use both sides, increase the margins, make the font smaller, email instead of paper mail… ect.) but now we have a a great new solution to save that horrible means of printing we use, ink! A group of Dutch programmers designed a new font from an open source Sans Serif (which is just as standard as Times New Roman and Courier in the business world) to have holes precisely located so that they greatly reduce ink usage but insure the original legibility!

A friend brought this wonderfully disgusting graph to my attention today… It’s sad but true and from the USDOE.
Iraq War Spending vs Renewable Energy Spending
Obama, I sincerely hope you see this and remedy it, ASAP.

Rubber Ducks with Some Luck
Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Don’t let your mommy ever tell you you’re too old for bath toys. Sure it is a bit different than studying the migration patterns of albatross or Canadian Geese, but the science behind the emigration of these ducks is just, if not more, important. Dr. Behar and his team from the University of Colorado let out 90 of these ‘critters’ in order to study melt patterns of the polar ice cap. Read the full article to get the low down on this interesting, innovating, and inexpensive method of studying global climate change effects.
With some luck the $2 rubber ducks released by Dr. Behar and his crew will be picked up on not so distant beaches and help us to learn more about the melt flow emenating from our rapidly devolumizing arctic ice cap.
